Paakashala, Kumbashi, Had been there for a family dinner. I called and reserved a table at 8:00 PM and was asked to come at 8:45 PM Sharp, we arrived at 8:40 PM and was made to wait till 9:30 PM before we could get a seat. The co-ordination of the staff is highly disappointing. Lot of customers were upset due to the same. We ordered Masala Papad, Dahi Puri, Tomato Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Palak Paneer, Roti, Veg Hyderabadi Biriyani. Dahi Puri the taste was bitter and puri was hard. Masala Papad was ok but overloaded with onions, 15 mins later the waiter comes and informs us that Tomato Soup is unavailable as they’re out of tomatoes. Cream of Mushroom Soup, Tasted and felt like water down milk with mushroom pieces, totally bland. Another 15 mins down the line the waiter walks back and informs us that even Palak Paneer isn’t available. So we cancelled the Rotis and asked him to get us Dal Tadka and Steamed Rice. He came back to inform us that only Basmati Rice is available. Dal Tadka and Rice was good. Then came the Veg Hyderabadi Biriyani, which tasted like Rice with Maggi Noodles Masala. We ordered a Gobi Manchurian Dry which turned out to taste like Gobi Pakodas. Finger Chips wasn’t available, Veg Spring Rolls Not Available. Finally came the turn for desserts and milkshakes. Vanilla milkshake order was taken then 5 mins later informed not available. So ordered Butterscotch milkshake and mango milkshake. Butterscotch Milkshake the sugar was too much. Mango Milkshake was totally bland. Gud bud ice cream was ok. Overall, personally I feel the restaurant is overhyped and way too over priced for the quality of food and service. They need to work a lot on the quality of food and pricing and quality of service to survive in the market. Hoping to get a reply from the management soon as to when I can expect a better service and when to visit again.

I came here for a hearty dinner, and this restaurant truly delivered. Specializing in vegetarian dishes, the food here is not only delicious but of excellent quality. I started with a Paper Masala Dosa, which was impressively long definitely a dish that could be shared between two people. The dosa was flavorful, and I particularly loved the sambar that came with it. For starters, I ordered the Masala Papad, which was absolutely delicious with just the right amount of spice. I also tried their Idli, which was soft and satisfying. The Aloo Paratha was decent, though nothing particularly remarkable. For drinks, I opted for the Watermelon and Mosambi Juice, both of which were refreshing and a perfect way to finish off a wholesome meal. While the restaurant offers a wide variety of options on the menu, I did notice that some items aren’t always available. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the restaurant, which is air conditioned, is well maintained and hygienic. Overall, this is a great vegetarian spot to enjoy during your travels, especially if you're dining with friends or family. A lovely place for a fulfilling meal!

We visited Paakashala Restaurant Kumbashi for breakfast, and it was a wonderful experience. This chain is quite popular in Karnataka, especially for its delicious vegetarian options. We ordered idli-vada and the breakfast combo, which included one idli, one vada, a mini masala dosa, kara bath, kesari bath, and a mini coffee. The portions are generous – the combo itself is enough to make you feel full and satisfied. The taste was excellent; the idli and vada were fresh and soft, the sambhar was flavorful, and everything was served hot. Prices are slightly on the higher side compared to smaller eateries, but they provide good service and quality, which makes it worth it. The restaurant is conveniently located on the highway towards Kundapura from Udupi, with ample parking space. In addition to breakfast, they also serve a wide variety of South Indian, North Indian, and even Chinese dishes during lunch and dinner. Overall, a great stop if you’re traveling on this route and craving authentic vegetarian food with good service!

I stayed in this hotel on Nov 9. Pros It has a anytime checkin/checkout facility. It is located on the highway ,so you can just request your bus to stop near the location. The staff are very nice They serve pure vegetarion food. Reasonable rates. They have AC rooms . They provide extra bed if asked for a charge (600 Rs) . Rooms are clean. Breakfast was of decent quality. They have hot water facility. They will provide service to call auto to hotel from where you can visit other nearby towns. They provide 2 water bottels as complimentary. I think they have option of room service , but i didn't try.

Cons I expected little more facility for 2814 Rs. There are no bedside Cabinets to keep our belongings. (to keep it safe from the kids). No working table provided. The TV didn't work, we didn't complain becasue we were just staying for a day. The wiring was a mess. The balcony on the room was not tidy . There were insects in the balcony, since our balcony was near the sign board, light insects get attracted to it. Reception is mostly empty . I called few times in the reception but nobody replied. I like vada's so i have eaten quite a few . The vada in the resturant had a little brownish tinge ,so i can tell that oil was reused to fry it . W.e didn't try the lunch so can't comment on it

Suggestion for Improvements Proper staffing for the reception. The resturant staff doubles up as receptionist . Improve the Vada quality. They should introduce a key card system ,instead of the lock and key. Conclusion:- It is a nice clean hotel for...

We visited this place on 17th May 2023 with high expectations after few food bloggers recommendation.

Items which we ordered are as follows :

Palak soup which was good

Roti and veg kadai - veg kadai was too spicy and bland(tasteless). Veg kadai did not contain much veggies. It just had a lot of capsicum few carrots beans etc. Even after telling the waiter captain that we don't want spicy gravy he insisted to go for veg kadai.

Dal khichdi - Ordered specially for 4 year old kid. We did instruct them not to make it spicy. The waiter captain received the instruction and went inside I really don't know did he really pass it on to the chef/cook. When the food was served we found out green hot chilles were finely chopped and put in dal khichdi. When we asked the waiter captain he was clueless. It was spicy for us(adults) also. We asked them for some pickle but spoiled pickle was served.

Curd rice - A simple curd rice also turned out to be a disaster. It was salty. When curd rice was served first time it was full and a lot of cashews pieces were on top. When we asked to replace the curd rice as it was salty they served only 3/4th of the bowl with just 3-4 cashew pieces on top. They didn't prepare fresh curd rice instead they altered the previous order by adding few ingredients.

Did not feel like ordering something else after such bad experience.

We have heard a lot about Paakashala (Bengaluru branches) it is good but we really did not enjoy the food here in...
